Haha, guter Witz Blizzard. Die ersten Realm-First Raid Achievements wurden veröffentlicht.
Is sowas irgendwie illegal oder so?

ZitatMy two cents ( 0.026 USD):
To make these feats equally challenging to get in 10 and 25 man settings, the 10-man raids will have to have significantly tighter and harder mechanics in comparison. In 25s you have more players, which also means more mistakes. This is no small thing when you compare encounters such as Lich King, Sartharion etc - it is in fact quite easy to recover from the same mistake in 10-man while sometimes near-impossible in 25-man. Simply because there's less room per player. Now, of course it would be possible to leave such mechanics out. I believe though that any developer who takes pride in their work and what they do would be hard pressed to do so - the encounters have come such a long way that taking steps back just for this kind of reason would be silly.
Addressing the point of "but if you lose a DPS in 10-man, then you lose like 20% of your DPS compared to 25-man where it's just 4%." This is nothing but a matter of tuning. On the hardest 25-man encounters you can not lose a single DPS regardless and everyone has to be on top of their game. That alone makes this argument moot. As long as the margin for slack doesn't exceed the number that you'd expect a player to pull, it's "just as hard" DPS-wise.
It's significantly easier to play perfectly in a 10-man raid and it's significantly easier to "stack the raid" with a class that's perfect in a particular encounter. It doesn't take much resources at all. The difference is absolutely huge between non-optimal and optimal - good example of this is a disc priest or a warlock on LK Heroic. Or DKs on Anub'Arak in ToC when it came out. And so on and so forth.
You can afford a lot more sloppy play as long as you're able to stack and optimize the raid. Blink, Teleport, Ice block, Divine Sacrifice etc allow for a lot sloppier play. Unless you homogenize every class significantly, there will always be a class or two that shines in a particular encounter because of their unique abilities. If you assume optimal composition then the encounter is close to impossible on a setup that isn't optimal. If you don't assume optimal composition, it will just not be particularly tight.
Now obviously what I said about raid stacking obviously also applies to 25-man raids as well. It is however quite a bit more easy to stack a 10-man raid when compared to 25s because of simple logistics. Who knows, the guilds might hit that point sometime in the future in 25s, but so far that hasn't happened on such scale (converting 100% of raid's DPS to be Rogue) and shouldn't be brought into the discussion. In 10s this phenomenon has existed since Ulduar.
How do you plan on solving those issues, unless you plan on scrapping a lot of interesting and unique mechanics from boss fights? Will you just be spending ten times the amount of work hours per boss to ensure they're equally balanced, or will you be satisfied with "they're somewhat close to equal"? From the perspective of a 10-man raider, do you think they will enjoy this option more than if they were to get their own 10-man realm first achievement? If the 10-man raids will require an absolutely decked out optimal raid composition, do you think the players will respond positively to the fact that they now have to gear up several characters to make the boss doable (or easier) or risk sitting out? If huge amounts of additional work will be put into balancing the 10s and 25s, will this mean that we'll have to wait for new raid instances even longer?
I love that 10s will be rewarding the same loot come Cataclysm. I love pretty much all of the changes you've made in general, but I'm quite conflicted on this one. With all respect, you've made _a lot_ of stuff work that a lot of negative nancies were shooting down on forums months in advance, but you've also made some blunders too. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how you can make this work. If you feel like sharing anything at all, I'm sure a lot of people would either be going "Aaahh, so that's how, that's actually pretty smart and clever" and accept the idea or will be able to give feedback on why exactly the concept wouldn't work. You could address some points that the community would be able to bring up that you possibly haven't thought of - it's pretty much a win-win situation.
Personally, I'd also absolutely hate to lose realm first to some guild that I'm not even directly going to compete against. I'm sure a 10-man guild would feel the same way if they lost to 25-man guild in a race. If I can't even enter the 10-man instance on the same reset when I clear a 25-man version, why is the achievement shared? I'm sure the 10s will be significantly harder than compared to Wrath and closer to 25s in general, but I'm also extremely sceptic of the fact that they'd be equal in balance and thus warrant a shared realm first achievement.

-
Bitte nicht die Nerfkeule schwingen Blizzard! 5er Instanzen die wieder eine Herausforderung sind. Hoffentlich bleibt das so!
